When the Vasudhara Is Blocked: Signs of Being Un-Earthed

Written by Dr Priya Vallabh and Susan Clark

Part 2 of a 4-part series on the Earth Star

In the first post, we introduced the Vasudhara Chakra — the Earth Star, sitting one to two feet (30 - 60cm) below the soles of the feet, keying us into the consciousness of this planet and making us Earthlings. We ended with a line: without a healthy Vasudhara, the energies of Earth are still around us, but we can't quite receive them. We're here, but we haven't quite arrived.

This post is about what happens when that "not quite arriving" becomes a chronic state. When the Vasudhara flow is choked, dimmed, or shut down, it rarely announces itself with a dramatic symptom. Instead it hums in the background of everything. It shapes how the world feels - what we notice, what we chase, what we can't seem to finish, and what we treat as real.

We've drawn out four ways of experiencing Vasudhara blockage below. Most of us will recognise ourselves in at least one, at least sometimes. That is not a diagnosis - the Vasudhara Chakra is dynamic, and blockages come and go. Think of it more as an invitation to notice how your Vasudhara is flowing right now.

1. The felt-sense of not belonging

The most immediate marker of a blocked Vasudhara (Earth Star Chakra) is a quiet, persistent sense of not belonging to Earth itself. Not "not belonging in this friend group" or "not belonging in this job" — that is more the territory of a blocked root chakra. This is subtler and larger: not belonging to the planet.

It can feel like:

  • Experiencing life as isolated rather than interconnected — even in the company of people you love;

  • Feeling that your body isn't really yours — that you are renting it, or watching it from a slight distance;

  • Being an alien in your own life … out of place in a way that doesn't translate onto specific circumstances;

  • An underlying restlessness … a pull to relocate, a search for "home" that never quite resolves.

The paradox of a blocked Vasudhara Chakra is that we can be surrounded by belonging — a home, a community, this planet's fullness — and still not be able to feel it.

2. When our ideas never quite come to manifest

The Vasudhara (Earth Star Chakra) is the manifestation engine — the point at which the raw potential of Earth becomes available to us for making things. When it is blocked, this shows up in a very specific way: ideas that never quite come into being.

The pattern shows up as:

  • A sustained inability to bring things into manifest form — projects stall, energy fizzles, the last twenty percent never gets built;

  • Feeling that there just isn't enough to work with — enough time, enough support, enough material, enough anything;

  • Resistance to current conditions … trying to force outcomes rather than aligning with what the moment actually offers;

  • Poor timing — acting too early, too late, or out of phase with what is ripening around you;

  • Difficulty letting go, or ending things, or letting energy recycle back into the collective flow.

Manifestation is not wishing or magic thinking. It is an energy question: can what you are carrying be received into the world as it is right now? A blocked Vasudhara Chakra means the answer is often no — no matter how hard you push.

3. When the world stops making sense

A blocked Vasudhara (Earth Star Chakra) can also make the whole planet feel incomprehensible. There is a sense of being caught in a flow of life you can't escape and can't quite explain — as if you had woken up in the middle of a play, on stage, without a script.

This often carries with it:

  • A feeling of being threatened by Earth itself — nature as hostile, other beings as competitors, life as a constant fight for survival;

  • A sense that nothing about how things work on this planet quite makes sense;

  • Difficulty trusting the ground beneath you, in every literal and metaphorical sense.

Because the Vasudhara Chakra is what keys us into the collective consciousness of Earth, when it is blocked we lose the deep contextual understanding that comes with membership. It can feel like everyone else received an instruction manual we never got.

4. Extraction and either/or thinking

The subtlest marker of a blocked Vasudhara (or Earth Star Chakra) is a worldview shift. Because we are no longer keyed into Earth as a system of consciousness, we start to relate to it — and to our own possibilities — in ways that feel intuitive but are actually distortions.

The three that come up most often:

  • Over-identification with the abstract, the spiritual, or the mental — living in ideas and concepts as if they were more real than the ground you are standing on;

  • Binary thinking — "possible" or "impossible", "yes" or "no" — instead of the contextual, layered, "under what conditions might this become possible?" that a Vasudhara-flowing person tends to inhabit;

  • Treating the Earth as a resource to extract from rather than a system to align within — this shows up everywhere from environmental habits to how we relate to our own body's energy.

This last one is worth sitting with, because it is the most collective. A great deal of what we now call the ecological crisis is, at least in part, a Vasudhara crisis at scale: a whole civilisation Un-Earthed enough that it treats the planet as a warehouse rather than a home.

A note before we move on

If a lot of this landed, it does not mean something is broken. The Vasudhara Chakra can be blocked temporarily — by grief, by trauma, by long stretches spent in un-Earthed environments, by ways of thinking we absorbed young and never questioned. Blockage is not a sentence. It is information. It is the Earth Star, gently or not-so-gently, letting us know that something wants looking after.

In the next post, we will turn the picture around and look at what it feels like when the Vasudhara Chakra is flowing well — the felt-sense of being an Earthling in full receipt of the energies of this place. And in the final post, we will offer some practices for softening the blockages and re-opening the flow.

For now, if any of the descriptions above brought a small sting of recognition, we would invite you to notice where in your body you felt it. That noticing is already the beginning of the reconnection.
