Deepening partnerships with the community of life through the Vasudhara (Earth Star) Chakra

Deepening partnerships with the community of life through the Vasudhara (Earth Star) Chakra

Written by Dr Priya Vallabh and Susan Clark

In the previous blog, we offered 5 practices for quick connections with and through the Vasudhara Chakra. These next five practices are designed to build the ground beneath your feet, slowly, increasing your capacity to connect to the Earth through the Earth Star Chakra (Vasudhara Chakra) in a more sustained way. These practices offer ways to be in communion through the Earth Star in ever-unfolding layers.

6. Connect to Home

Spend some time consciously connecting to the place you live and the flow of life that lives there with you. Become intentionally curious as you walk around outside. Begin by asking yourself:

  • What trees grow here naturally?

  • Which critters and beasties live here?

  • What is the long and short history of this place?

  • From which side of my home does the sun rise?

  • What phase is the moon in tonight?

Tap into your emotions - how does this place feel? How do you feel in this place? What sensations are present in your body as you connect?

When you feel ready to deepen the connection, experiment with reaching out and connecting to other forms of life around you. Connect physically, energetically and emotionally. Introduce yourself, and be open to any energy or emotions you receive in response.

The Earth Star responds to relationships with this Earth — not just to nature in general. A generic love of "nature" is a good beginning. A specific, informed knowledge of your particular patch of Earth is fertiliser for the Vasudhara Chakra.

7. Become Part of a Community of Life

The Vasudhara Chakra is not individual. It is relational — it is a chakra of participation.

Notice how you are connected to, and in relationship with everything and everyone around you in your neighbourhood or area. Begin to notice the flow of energy between you and all the other forms of life in your area. Include the rivers, winds, weather, seasons, plants, critters and beasties. Notice how you are interacting with each other, how you affect each other's emotions and physical experiences.

For the next week, find one way to strengthen your relationship with the system of life around you, and do it regularly. It doesn’t have to be large or grand. Pick something that aligns with who you are, and bring it into connection with the community of life around you.

Each act, however small, tells the Vasudhara Chakra: I am here, and I am participating in this community of life.

8. Create With What Is Already Here

Since the Vasudhara Chakra governs manifestation, one of the most direct capacity-building practices is to create with what you already have.

Instead of buying something new, choose something already in front of you and make (create) with it. Cook from ingredients already in your kitchen. Make art from found objects. Build something from reclaimed wood. Write with an idea that has been waiting in a drawer.

As you are creating, experiment with being connected to the potential of what you are working with. Set aside any ethical judgement, and instead, surrender to the flow of possibility.

The Earth Star's core question about manifestation is not "how do I get more?" but "how do I align with the possibilities that already exist here?"

9. Connect consciously to the flow of life around you

We can become so used to the place and energy of where  we live on autopilot, dropping into an unconscious relationship with everything around us. This attunement helps us to reconnect with different aspects of our home and local area, one aspect at a time. We offered some starting points, one week at a time. Feel free to rearrange them, add to them, do them more or less often, and adapt them in the way that feels aligned for you.

Practice intentionally connecting to different aspects of life around you as you flow through your days and weeks;

  • Intentionally notice one new form of life (plant, insect, element) around you, in the places you regularly visit;

  • Tend to your relationship with one aspect of life daily or weekly (for example, watering a thirsty plant, or playing with a friendly furry friend;

  • Great your day, taking an intentional connected breath, feeling the air, the sun, the energy of the day.

  • Take a sip of water, and as you are sipping, feel the life force of the element of water as it flows from the world around you into your body. Take a moment to consciously connect and commune with the water.

Be creative with your own connections, and share your own practices in the comments below. Each practice is a doorway. Over time, they weave into a lived-sense of belonging to a particular, alive place.

10. Pray downward first

Although this last practice might feel awkward at first, it offers a powerful shift in the flow of our consciousness. If you are unsure of which practice to start with, we recommend starting here. Give yourself permission to experiment softly.

Most of us pray or appeal for support upward. We ask the Universe, Source, the Divine, Spirit. Instead experiment with first asking downward.

  • Instead of: "Universe, help me manifest this."

  • Try: "Earth, support and resource me to bring this into form here and now?"

  • Instead of: "Universe / God / Goddess guide my steps."

  • Try: "Earth, guide me along the path of possibilities that are available to me now."

  • Instead of: "Divine, grant me abundance."

  • Try: "Earth, help me to tap into the flow of abundance in the flow of possibilities around me. Guide me towards forms of abundance that are connected and reciprocal.

This is a small verbal shift with a large energetic one. It moves manifestation out of wishing and into collaboration. It reminds the body that Earth is not a passive stage on which our lives happen — Earth is a co-creator, a partner, a beloved with her own preferences and offerings.

Try it before a project begins. Try it when you feel stuck. Try it in the shower. Notice what shifts.

Tending your relationship with the Earth Star

The Vasudhara Chakra is quiet. It does not announce itself. It is the foundation beneath everything else, and like all foundations, it goes largely unnoticed until we begin to attend.

If any of the four posts in this series brought a small sting of recognition — of not-belonging, or of belonging, or of a wish to be more deeply Earthed — that recognition was the Vasudhara Chakra asking for attention. These practices offer openings into tending the connection with the Vasudhara (Earth Star) Chakra.

Begin with one. Let it work on you for a few weeks. Add another when it feels natural. There is no correct sequence, and no correct pace. The Earth Star is patient. She has been waiting for our desire for conscious connection for a long time.
